Wowwww! How do you respond to such a heart felt inspirational story of moral diversity, unequivocal callous from such a impugnent government of impoverish fortitude. To those who walk the streets, those who know the streets, those who live the streets are unkindly given no justice, no conscience, no moral empathy from those who sit in their big fat chairs, tailored suits, with their air-conditioned offices and chauffeured driven cars. Who are they but to divulge in the social conscience of an unheard voice. Yes you Flaxmere maybe small in stature but huge in the heart of a community already down trodden and deprived of the goodness that lives in us all. I urge you not to concede, not to hold up the white flag, but to fight with all that you are, all that makes us who we are today. To know that with the calling of the trumpets we hear your cry, and we stand with you as ONE, as MANY, as a WHANAU who seeks the unearthly riches of truth that so deservedly bestows those who know the proud community from which we reside. FLAXMERE LIVES WITHIN US ALL. Whether we are here over in Sydney or whether we are over in Italy within the confines of a Operatic school of perfection. Dad, We believe in YOU, and DAD we believe in FLAXMERE. For those who fight un-fightable fights, those who have never been given the opportunity to win, we chant the words, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT. And stand proud to know that within every breath you take, every word you breathe, the spirit of Flaxmere carries no greater abundance of mana than that of the caretaker of love. And Dad with your words and those that walk with you remember you are the fore bearer of the new warrior that walks among us. Not the one that fights with his fists, but the one that fights with his mind, his head and his words. So carry our Aroha with you knowing that we believe in your fight, in your cause for justice, in your plight that no matter what the outcome maybe. There are those that hear your calling and may this be your day, to overcome. From all that you are, and all that you have given. You have won already. You the voice of Flaxmere, Your the voice of a Community, You the voice of a NATION. Chuuurrrr you like that Dad, Fuuuu pretty neat aye lol I've just started reading this book about BARACK OBAMA it's called THE AUDACITY OF HOPE....IT talks about his beliefs, his fights and how he overcame. it's all about his political battles and his walk to become the president and not only the man who carries the power of a nation, but the power of a downtrodden people. So Dad that's why I believe in You. Because you are the heart of our people. And I am so proud to know that, because it makes my heart warm, makes me feel special to know you are my DAD and that one day "I WANT TO GROW UP TO BE JUST LIKE YOU....."

Kia Ora Dad, Well, as the people of Wales love to say, 'It blows my mind!' I whole heartedly agree that this Corrections facility would not 'serve Flaxmere' (What proof do we have that they serve anyone, criminal or otherwise) It would seem very clear to all that the people who are happily making the decisions don't live in Flaxmere. I am filled with pride to hear a number of good people are standing up for the continued growth of Flaxmere. I hope they continue to challenge the decisions made by those who think they 'know what's best' for Flaxmere and its people. We all know these people making such decisions sleep very easily at night, with full stomachs and an easy heart saying, 'at least it's not in my neighbourhood!'. These are the same people that show up for photo opportunities when the media are around, and that probably accounts for 99% of the time they spend in Flaxmere. It is outrageous to think, that in amongst all the good that is happening in Flaxmere with the U-Turn Trust, Te Aranga Marae, Tunutunu, FlaxRock, Bikes in Schools, Cops on Bikes, The Flaxmere Weight-loss Programme, the reward form the government is to remind the people of Flaxmere that they are supposed to be the dregs of society never the leaders. Continue to fight, take no backward steps, but most of all never cease to show the decision makers the light and love that lives and continues to blossom in Flaxmere. Keep it going dad - From Philip Rhodes

Hi Henare, Wendy Beeke here, Awesome you are rallying round people in opposition to the Department of Corrections proposal of locating a facility in the Flaxmere CBD. Last year i did a paper at Massey on this very subject (Urban Environments) and did an assignment on how socio economic segregation has come about in the city of Hastings (encompassing Flaxmere and Havelock North). I purported that the placement of the refuse station, dog pound, prison and the like have served to sociology segregate and subjugate certain peoples in the Hawke’s Bay. So good on you for saying NO!!!!!!!!! The Hawke’s Bay is very blessed to have a leader like you. Kind regards, Wendy .
